Frequently asked

Quick answers to what most people ask in their first week.

How is your data collected? Do you respect robots.txt?

Every signal is derived from public sources: published pricing pages, public job postings, SEC and equivalent regulatory filings, public press, the open web, and APIs whose terms permit programmatic access. We rate-limit politely per host, honour robots directives where they apply, and never bypass paywalls or collect anything behind a login. Every row in the product carries the source URL it was derived from.

Where is my data stored?

Customer account data (workspaces, watchlists, alert rules, billing) is stored in managed Postgres in the United States (Ashburn, Virginia) with encryption at rest and TLS in transit. Observed signal data about public companies is stored separately from customer accounts. Access is logged. See the security page for the full posture and the data processing addendum.

Do you sell my data?

No. We do not sell, rent, or share customer account data, watchlist contents, or usage analytics with any third party. We are a paid subscription product, not an ad-funded one. The data we sell access to is observations about public companies, derived from public sources, not data about you or your team. See the privacy policy for the full list of subprocessors we use to operate the service.

How do I export all my data before cancelling?

Use Exports for one-click CSV (every tier) and JSON (Pro+) dumps of every signal page in your plan. Workspace metadata (watchlist, alert rules, team list, audit log) can be exported on request to privacy@pulsesignal.co and is delivered within 7 days. Account deletion is self-serve from Settings → Billing.

How do I add a competitor?

Open Watchlist, type a company name or domain, and pick it from the list. The workspace watchlist is shared with every seat; the personal section is yours only. New companies start appearing in your signal pages on the next scan cycle.

How often does PulseSignal refresh data?

Every signal module (pricing, leadership, hiring, API and integrations, product launches, customer logos, customer sentiment, tech stack, positioning, and funding) runs on a recurring scan cycle. Each row records the source URL it was derived from, so you can verify recency directly.

Why is a company missing from my dashboard?

Three reasons in order of likelihood: (1) it’s not on your watchlist yet, (2) the company hasn’t been indexed (use the search bar in the topbar to request it by URL), or (3) the relevant signal module is gated to a higher tier. The empty-state on each page tells you which.

How do I get alerts in Slack?

Pro and above. Go to Settings → Integrations, connect Slack, and pick the channel. Set per-event-type subscriptions in Alerts.

Can I export data?

Yes. CSV export is available on every tier for the signal types in your plan. JSON exports are available on Pro; PDF reports on Business; the custom report builder is on Scale. The Exports page surfaces every export option your plan includes.

How does the 14-day trial work?

Pick one of our four paid plans at signup, add a card, and you’re in a full-product trial for 14 days. We collect the card up front but don’t charge it during the trial. The first charge lands on day 15. Cancel any time before day 15 from Settings → Billing and you pay nothing. Plans default to annual billing (two months free versus monthly), and you can switch to monthly during checkout.

How do I change or cancel my plan?

Settings → Billing opens the self-serve Polar customer portal. Upgrades take effect immediately, downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period.

What is your refund policy?

If you change your mind within 7 days of your first paid charge, email support@pulsesignal.co and we refund that charge in full, no questions asked. After the 7-day window you can still cancel any time from Settings → Billing, which stops future charges at the end of the current billing period.

How do I invite teammates?

Owners and admins can invite from Settings → Team. Seat caps: Pro 5, Business 15, Scale 50. Role-based access control (admin, editor, and viewer roles) is available on Scale.

How is rate-limiting handled on the API?

API access is per-plan. Each request authenticates with your ps_live_ key and counts against your daily quota (Pro 10K, Business 50K, Scale 200K). If a request hits the daily cap the API returns a 429 with a Retry-After header plus X-RateLimit headers; the dashboard surfaces this as a banner with an upgrade link. See the API reference for authentication, endpoints, and the error model.

Where do I report a bug or request a feature?

Email hello@pulsesignal.co or use the contact form. We triage daily and reply within one business day, usually same-day.

Still stuck? Email us at hello@pulsesignal.co and we’ll get back the same day.
